# hold the place the file already found

*you already paid for the pin. the watershed is still unfunded*

The pin is already on your screen. **Nature risk data** shows a plant, a warehouse, a mine, or a farm in a floodplain, on the edge of a watershed, or inside a mapped habitat, and the file that shows it is one your desk already pays for. You can name the facility. The living system under the pin is still unfunded.

A watershed, a forest, or a floodplain exists whether or not a vendor has its coordinates. Location data finds that living system. [Ensurance](https://ensurance.app/?from=guide) is how it gets funded. The file is not the living thing, and it is not a product we sell.

**the file finds the place. it does not hold the place.**

The license can show you the watershed. It does not fund the watershed.

## the license ends at the pin

The last renewal already paid for the question that matters: which facility, and which living system that facility depends on. A headquarters, a country, and a sector code hide the site. The useful file names the plant, the warehouse, the mine, or the farm, then lays a public map across that point. Flood. Wetlands. Protected areas and critical habitat. A watershed boundary. Canopy.

That picture is worth having. Flood exposure can change within a short walk of a river, and a country-level score will miss the bend. The facility file already cleared that mistake. What it leaves open is the unpaid work. Two sites in the same sector can sit in different basins. One still carries water through a dry August. The other occupies a floodplain that has already closed a county road. The coordinates separate them. The invoice for the coordinates leaves both the river and the plain unfunded.

We use public layers of that kind — flood, wetlands, protected areas, critical habitat, watersheds, and canopy — when a place is underwritten. We do not sell the file.

## what asset location data providers leave unfinished

**Asset location data providers** sell the find. A coordinate for the facility. A layer for the water, the habitat, or the cover. Often a score that ranks the site inside a portfolio. A desk that already licenses that file should keep the provider that does the find well. The category exists because headquarters data was never the site.

The job ends when the site is visible. The watershed that feeds the plant, the stand that holds the slope, and the floodplain that stores the peak sit outside the contract. A score can change the memo. It does not change the river. Another year of nature risk data, with the living system still unfunded, leaves the same exposure in the portfolio. The step left open is a hold on that system.

## before the next renewal

Take the file you already have and write three lines a risk memo can use.

Name the facility the file already stores: the plant, the warehouse, the mine, or the farm, at its coordinate.

Name the living system under that coordinate. The watershed that supplies the site, the stand that holds its slope, or the floodplain that stores its water. If the file only returns a hazard score, ask for the place under the score. The score is a label. The place is the asset.

Name the holder, if there is one. A license shows the watershed. A holder funds it. If the third line is empty, the exposure in the offer below is the one your desk is carrying.

## a hold is the place, with its record

A **hold** is the natural asset the file already named: a watershed, a forest stand, or a floodplain. That is the thing that floods, feeds, or cools the facility. The unit of account is the asset.

**Claims** are what the place says. This basin, this stand, or this floodplain performs a service for the site your file already located. **Evidence** is what is observed there and tied to that place: a boundary, a coordinate, or the floodplain that a public map already drew. The hold carries those claims and that evidence with the asset.

For a capital desk, the path is [capital providers](https://ensurance.app/solutions/capital-providers?from=guide&topic=location-data). The service on that page is natural asset brokerage. The hold is the watershed, the stand, or the floodplain, and the services that asset yields are kept apart from the cost of acquiring it. A corporate risk team or an insurer with the same file stands in the same gap. The site is on the map. The living system has no holder.

## the offer

| buyer | exposure | what we deliver | unit | door |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Newmont, which already runs TNFD Locate across its operations. The Denver headquarters sits on the South Platte. This is not a claim that Newmont licenses a particular location vendor. | Locate can show the site. The South Platte the headquarters depends on can still be unfunded. | A hold on that river, arranged as natural asset brokerage. The existing data contract stays its own contract. Evidence on the hold is a boundary, a coordinate, or the floodplain a public map already drew. Not a data seat. | The South Platte, once, not per API call and not per seat | [South Platte](https://ensurance.app/south-platte-river.basin?from=guide) if that is the place, or [browse natural assets](https://ensurance.app/natural-assets?from=guide), then [name the place](https://ensurance.app/contact?from=guide&topic=location-data) |

Bring the place your file already named. The data contract you already pay for can stay where it is.

[Browse natural assets](https://ensurance.app/natural-assets?from=guide) and see which places are already listed. If the watershed, the stand, or the floodplain in your file is one of them, that is the hold. If it is not listed yet, [write with the place named](https://ensurance.app/contact?from=guide&topic=location-data). Name the facility, and name the watershed, the stand, or the floodplain the file already found.

## frequently asked questions

### what do asset location data providers actually sell?

They sell the find. Facility locations, nature and climate layers, and often a score that ranks sites. Funding the living system the file names sits outside that sale. If the proposal ends in a map, an export, or a seat, that living system is still unfunded. Ask which living system the file already found, and who holds it.

### is nature risk data enough once the site is known?

Nature risk data shows the exposure. A flood layer can tell you the warehouse sits in the plain. Holding the plain is a different purchase, and it is the one that funds the living system. Keep the file you already pay for. The next check is the hold.

### who is the buyer, and what is the unit?

One buyer already in public view is Newmont. The company runs TNFD Locate across its operations, and the Denver headquarters sits on the South Platte. The unit is that river, or the watershed, stand, or floodplain another file already named. One place, not a seat. Claims say what the place is. Evidence is the boundary and the coordinate tied to it. The door is the [natural assets](https://ensurance.app/natural-assets?from=guide), then a [note that names the place](https://ensurance.app/contact?from=guide&topic=location-data).

## the next check

You already paid for the pin. The watershed is still unfunded. [See the natural assets](https://ensurance.app/natural-assets?from=guide). If the one in your file should be held, [name that place](https://ensurance.app/contact?from=guide&topic=location-data).
